Camp Soar

The Lab School extends academic and project based learning into a summer session known as Camp Soar! Camp Soar is a highly successful summer enrichment series designed for students to receive individual attention in small groups. Instructors are highly qualified and certified educators.

We create summer extensions with our students' health, wellness, and optimal learning needs in mind.

SNU Lab School is proud to be a leader in academic Christian modeling.

All camps located at SNU Lab School, 3100 N Rockwell, Bethany, OK 73008 except the Glass Etching Camp and Woodworking Camp (both located at the Mustang High School Wood Shop) and the Musical Theatre Production Camp (located in Cantrell Music Hall, on SNU's main campus).

NOTE: Children enrolled in both morning and afternoon camps may bring a lunch from home.

*All camps meet Monday through Friday.

*Children must be enrolled by May 17 to be guaranteed a camp t-shirt.

*One t-shirt will be given to each child, enrolled by May 17, regardless of how many camps they attend.

Academic Camps (Duration: 4-weeks)

Literacy Camp (morning)

COST: $400 for this 4-week camp

COST: $400 for this 4-week camp

Extended Camps (Duration: 2-weeks)

Under the Big Top! (Early Childhood Camp)

COST: $200 for the 2 week camp

Come one, come all Pre-K friends who are 4 years of age or will be in kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. We will have two weeks of fun and learning as we explore the circus! Inside or outside--math, science, and language activities will keep learning exciting as we have fun under the big top.

Dates: June 17- 28

* for children who are 4 years old or going into Kindergarten.

Space is limited to 12 students.

Musical Theater Production Camp

COST: $300 for the 2-week camp

*NOTE: Auditions are over and cast lists are finalized. However, you can still join the camp and be in the show as part of the ensemble!

Camp Soar is excited to offer a two-week musical theatre camp where students will learn and perform Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr.! Auditions will take place in Cantrell Hall on Saturday, April 27, and students will need to bring a 24-36 bar cut of a song from a musical. Callbacks will take place at 2:00 on the 27th. All students seeking a speaking/singing role will be required to audition and attend callbacks. If you are unable to audition on April 27 and would still like to participate, please email Audra Faust at afaust@snu.edu and she will be able to speak to you about video auditions or just being a part of the large ensemble.

There will be 2 performances on June 28 at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm and 2 performances on June 29 at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Every student participating will receive 4 complimentary tickets to share. SNU Lab School Camp Soar Musical Theatre Audition

*For students that have completed 1st - 12th grade

*Space is limited to 30 students

LOCATION:

Cantrell Music Hall (SNU Main Campus) All auditions, rehearsals, and performances will take place on the campus of SNU at Cantrell Hall. *Cantrell is located on College Ave. between the SNU Admissions building and the SNU Library.

Parking is located along NW 39th Exp. and the parking lot off Peniel Ave.

Project-Based Camps (Duration: 1-week each)

Arts and Crafts Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies Provided)

Marbles and glue and threads, oh my! Take a stroll on the creative side in this exciting hands-on adventure in the arts. Dive into decoupage, including homemade paper clay and paper mache. Experiment with multiple sewing stitches and fiber varieties. Apply splashes of paint color using unique and interesting tools. Build and plant a magical fantasy garden. Continue a summer of inspiration with a personalized art journal. Students who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grades are encouraged to join in the fun!

Baking Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies Provided)

Baking 2: Campers will have the opportunity to work together to bake multiple recipes, including breads, breakfast pastries, savory items, and sweet treats! Throughout the week, we will discuss and practice good kitchen hygiene and etiquette, including kitchen safety and working together. Cooperation with one another will be key to a successful and fun baking experience!

* For students that have completed 5th grade and up.

Candies, Cookies, and Chocolates Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies provided)

*For students that have completed 2nd grade and up

Are you ready for your kids to explore, create, learn, and make a mess while having fun? Come to our Cookies, Candies, and Chocolates Camp! Our safe and exciting environment is perfect for cooking fun, themed treats and goodies. Students will learn new skills and safe practices in the kitchen, plus gain confidence and self-esteem, all while having fun! Through different themes each day, students will get excited as they learn, bake, and create goodies all the way from movie themes to treats from around the globe.

Children will be bringing home daily treats they have made! At the end of the week, your child will bring home a personalized, bound recipe book with all of the recipes they made during the week.

Clay Sculpting Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies provided)

Learn to sculpt clay! In this camp, children will learn how to create three-dimensional works using the clay medium. Children will be bringing home projects at the end of camp.

Film & Animation Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies provided)

Lights, camera, action! In this camp, each day will begin with a little film history emphasizing animation. Students will work throughout the week on storyboarding skills to plan and create their own stop-motion animated films.

Gardening Camp

COST: $150 per session (Supplies Provided)

A little bit of science, and a whole lot of fun! In this camp, children will learn about plants and the basics of growing plants. During the week, they will also experience plant/garden themed art projects, snacks, and scavenger hunts. Campers will be bringing home projects, including growing projects.

Glass Etching Camp

COST: $150 per session (Supplies Provided)

REQUIREMENT: For students who have completed 2nd Grade and up.

NOTE: Students needing transportation between SNU Lab School camps and Glass Etching Camp must provide their own transportation.

In all sessions, campers will complete multiple techniques of etching on various materials (mugs, plates, mirrors, etc.) using a sand blaster. They will cover the materials with a plastic material, then cut out the areas that they are going to sandblast with an X-acto knife. All safety precautions involving the equipment will be followed.

*Returning campers will be working on new projects.

NOTE: Children attending both a morning and afternoon session the same week, or attending woodworking one session and glass etching one session in the same week, may bring a lunch from home.

Macrame Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies provided)

In this camp, we will explore a beautiful form of art that began hundreds of years ago. Students will learn basic knots, and will end each day with a finished piece of art! With some focused effort, students will learn how to work macrame cord into keychains, pencil pouches, and more! No experience is needed!

Percussion Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies provided)

In this hands-on camp, students will be introduced to various percussion instruments such as Orff instruments, drums, sticks, cymbals, and more! Children will enjoy having the opportunity to learn how to play instruments, plus learn how to read music. The students will learn some music theory and music appreciation as well. This camp is for anyone with or without music experience.

Robotics Camp

COST: $150 per camp (Supplies provided)

Campers will work in groups to build and control a Lego robot. After the Lego robot is built, then students will write Scratch coding to guide the robot through various activities.

DIRECTORS: Paula Sharp and Erin Velders (Robotics instructors at Prairie View Elementary in Mustang)

Dates: June 10-14 & June 17-21

Session ROBOT3 - June 10-14 (9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

* for students who have completed 2nd-8th grade.

Space is limited to 15 students per camp.

Woodworking Camp

COST: $200 per session (Supplies provided for basic projects)

REQUIREMENT: For students who have completed 2nd Grade and up.

NOTE: Students needing transportation between SNU Lab School camps and Woodworking Camp must provide their own transportation.

In all sessions, students will learn how to use a variety of woodworking tools and machines. Safety will be stressed as each student makes his/her own pen on a lathe as well as other daily projects.

*Returning campers will be working on new projects.
